I bought this tent for a four-day camping trip in the mountains because I wanted something I could put up and take down quickly without needing to ask any of my fellow campers for help (self-sufficiency is a huge hangup of mine). I didn't have the time or space to practice setting it up before the trip, but even so, it turned out to be really easy to do! Taking it down was even easier, and it packed back into its storage bag with a minimum of hassle -- a rarity with any tent. It has a small footprint and a tall dome, and it held up exceedingly well over a couple of windy nights. I doubt it'd last through TOO many crazy storms, but the poles being attached to the fabric probably means that it would do better than most comparable lightweight tents. I camp about three weekends a year, so this tent fits my needs perfectly!
Unexpected side benefit: Since the poles are attached to the fabric, the tent can be maneuvered into its final position AFTER setting it up, which helped me out a lot on this trip. I only had a small area nestled between some trees to set up in, so the ability to easily try several different configurations before staking the tent down was quite a bonus! I was even able to tip it forward before taking it down to get the last of the dirt and leaves out quickly.
I only noticed a couple of problems all weekend. First, the little peaked overhang above the door snagged my small hiking pack nearly every time I tried to duck in or out of the door ... though that's avoidable if one pays attention each and every time. Second, the mesh on the dome and door is EXTREMELY lightweight; the dome ended up with a couple of small holes in the mesh without ever being touched. The only explanation I can come up with is that maybe the tension from the poles caused a couple weak spots to run, kinda like a nylon stocking. But that's a common enough thing on any tent, and it's easily fixed, so it doesn't tarnish my enjoyment of this tent at all. For the price, the benefits FAR exceed the drawbacks!
I picked this tent up for when i go cat fishing, and end up staying out all night.
With its easy set up, it means that it takes no time at all to erect. After awhile can be done in poor light with speed.
I,m very happy with is tent so far, love the fact that there are four vents so the air is refreshed continuously. I have not used it in the rain as yet and that is the only reason i have not given it five stars.
If you purchase one then i hope you are as happy with it as I am.
